Just last year, Taiwan's Supreme Court ruled in favor of gay marriage, concluding it was unconstitutional to prohibit same-sex couples from getting married.
Two weeks ago, over 7 million Taiwanese voters voted against same-sex marriage in a referendum, a topic that many--including me--believe shouldn't have appeared on the referendum AFTER the court ruling.
In a moment of pure frustration (and passive-aggressiveness), I wanted to make a drink for the 7 million people who voted against love. Enjoy.
1oz / 30ml freshly squeezed lime juice
2 tsp white sugar
12 mint leaves for the drink, & 1 sprig for garnish
2 to 3oz (60 to 90ml) white rum (using Bacardi here)
Sparkling water, to top
Optional: salt, black pepper, & Angostura bitters
