LGBT couples who tie the knot have better physical and mental health, more social support and greater financial resources than those who remain single, a new study has found. In 2014, researchers from the University of Washington (UW) in the US studied more than 1,800 LGBT people, ages 50 and older, in locations where gay marriage was already legal. The strategy will help tackle homophobia and address the challenges faced by young members of Ireland’s LGBT community. The programme plans to hold consultations with young people between the age of 15-24 so as to provide recommendations in key policy areas.

Gay men are being held in “open camps” in the Chechen Republic where they are subjected to torture and beatings, human rights campaigners have claimed. The claims follow reports last week that 100 gay men had been rounded up and imprisoned in Chechnya, with at least three people allegedly murdered.

A gay man outed his fellow contestant, on national television, as transgender to other contestants in an attempt to save himself from elimination in the long-running reality competition program, Survivor. The act backfired on Jeff Varner. The other contestants, rightly outraged by what had transpired, voted him off the island for his dastardly deed.
