LGBT couples who tie the knot have better physical and mental health, more social support and greater financial resources than those who remain single, a new study has found. In 2014, researchers from the University of Washington (UW) in the US studied more than 1,800 LGBT people, ages 50 and older, in locations where gay marriage was already legal. UW researchers found that, in general, participants in a relationship, whether married or in a long-term partnership, showed better health outcomes than those who were single.

Ireland is to become the first country in the world to carry out a national LGBT youth strategy. The strategy will help tackle homophobia and address the challenges faced by young members of Ireland’s LGBT community. Young members of the LGBT community are encouraged to attend roadshows in several Irish cities in the coming months. The programme plans to hold consultations with young people between the age of 15-24 so as to provide recommendations in key policy areas.

Protesters marched against New Power Party (NPP) Executive Chairman Huang Kuo-chang (黃國昌) yesterday in New Taipei City’s Sijhih District, as efforts to recall the legislator continued. There has been a movement since December last year to recall Huang over his support for marriage equality. At a separate news conference celebrating the first anniversary of the NPP’s Hsinchu headquarters, Huang said his support for marriage equality was “unshakeable.”

A gay man outed his fellow contestant, on national television, as transgender to other contestants in an attempt to save himself from elimination in the long-running reality competition program, Survivor.
