First ever trans man has been elected to public office in Japan. The 25-year old Tomoya Hosoda has been elected a councillor for the city of Iruma (Saitama prefecture). Mr Hosoda was diagnosed with gender identity disorder when he was 20-years old, and transitioned in Apr 2015. He formally changed his name and gender in June that same year.
全球首名跨性別男子當選官職 細田智也任日本入間市議員。日本埼玉縣入間市近日進行市議會選舉，22 個議席中，25歲跨性別男子細田智也取得其中一席。細田智也20歲時，被診斷患上性別認同障礙。到了2015年他年屆23歲時，接受變性手術，並更改戶籍的姓名及性別。

In an episode of Hollywood Today Live, RuPaul revealed that he had secretly married his partner of 23 years this January. Ru later told Entertainment Tonight that the 2016 election outcome gave the couple the final push. 美國著名變裝皇后魯保羅(RuPaul)在訪談節目中透露，他和同性伴侶已經在今年1月秘密結婚了，結束了23年愛情長跑。他也透露2016年美國大選結果是最後促使他做此重大決定的推手。
A federal appeals court in Atlanta, Georgia, in the USA has ruled that employers aren’t prohibited from discriminating against employees based on their sexual orientation. A three-judge panel of the 11th US Appeals Court ruled 2-1 that Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits workplace discrimination based on a variety of factors, doesn’t protect against workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation.
Transgender activist Kıvılcım Arat was detained at the Istanbul Atatürk Airport in Turkey ‘without reason’ and threatened to be put in a cell with 20 men. She was on her way to Germany for a conference on women’s rights. Her lawyers managed to get authorities to backtrack on this decision, and she is now in a separate cell.
